Graveling in the Upper Lusatia

Dear RockHead fans,

We would like to inform you today about important changes and restrictions on the black stage of our RockHead tour that may affect you - even if you have already received your starter pack.

Closure in September - large-scale detour necessary
In the period from 24.09. to 08.10.2025 inclusive, a large part of the forest areas in the Zittau Mountains will be closed due to soil protection liming from the air by Sachsenforst. This affects almost the entire route of the black stage. Direct passage is not possible during this time. We have set up a large-scale detour for this period, which we are sending you as a GPX file attached to this e-mail. Alternatively, you can also find the detour route here: To the detour on Outdooractive The QR code site at Lake Olbersdorf remains unaffected and can still be scanned during the period mentioned.

Please note: Although the detour takes you safely around the restricted area , it leaves out many of the scenic highlights of the Zittau Mountains. We therefore recommend - if possible - to ride the RockHead tour either before 24.09. or after 08.10.2025.

If you have any questions or uncertainties, please send us an e-mail - we will be happy to help you. We hope for your understanding!

Good to know

"Take only memories with you, leave nothing but tire tracks."

According to the (slightly modified) quote from Chief Seattle we also want to point out tracks that we should urgently pay attention to.

However, these are not so much tire tracks, but rather the tracks of insects, especially the bark beetle.
You can find out everything you need to know about the small beetle, its tracks and the Upper Lusatian forests at :

Insider tip: Graveling in the border triangle

Exciting reports on the cycling experience!

In May 2021, three fearless men explored the regions around the border triangle and beyond. The journey started in the Lenten cloth town of Zittau and led through parts of the Jizera Mountains in the Czech Republic to the Polish town of Löwenberg, where the Löwenberg Switzerland can be found in the southern part of the town. The tour was a real gravel adventure and passed through remote forests and rugged country lanes.
